  • Torch/Headlamp or solar lanterns
  • Wood – you can buy wood from us if you run out
  • Firelighters and matches to light your fire

  • Closed shoes for the evenings
  • Warm clothes for evenings and other weather (no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing)
  • Hot water bottle
  • Sunblock – high factor

What can’t I bring?

  • Noisy behavior
  • Pets
  • Stress
  • Electronic music
  • Appliances that require electricity
  • Glasses for drinks, should this break we have no way of catching a wild animal or bird with a glass shard in their foot.  Easier with adults and kids – simply impossible with wild animals…
  • Florescent/BRIGHT lights attract the “unwanted visitors” – please bring your head lamps/torches instead – these work just fine.
  • Any form of light with a flame in the sleeping units or indoor areas.

Do we need to cook our own food?

  • You are welcome to bring your own food and self-cater.
  • Guests self-catering need to wash their own dishes.  We have been requested by guests to provide this service in the past.  Therefore, if you are allergic to washing dishes and you would like us to provide this service for you, we can.  The fee is R40 per day per unit of 2 people. Group bookings the fee is R200 per day.  **Arrange upon arrival for individual bookings / advanced notice required for group bookings.  Guests are still required to clean and clear up after themselves.
  • The pots, pans, knives, forks, plates etc. are there already plus gas-cookers in the communal kitchen with a communal coolerbox & a communal braai pit outside next to the ocean if you want to make a braai.
  • Alternatively there are other lovely restaurants in Paternoster.  It is important to pre-book with restaurants in the area.

Is there electricity?

  • There is no electricity at The Beach Camp™ by choice.
  • The communal areas have solar lighting or paraffin lanterns.  These may not be moved around by guests.
  • Bring your torch or head-lamp along with you for the sleeping areas or to check on your braai or if you simply need more light.

I don’t understand the accommodation terminology?

  • TWIN = a unit with 2 single beds.
  • A-Frame with a “double-bed frame” = a double bed, minus the legs.  Basically, like a futon that cannot fold up.
  • Have a look at the different types of accommodation we offer beach-camp-accommodation
  • Own Tent Camping = bring your own tent, we charge a per person rate.

What does it cost?

How do I get there?

What happens if I am staying for a while, how do I get my clothes washed?

  • You can drop your laundry off in Vredenburg at On The Spot on your way through and they will deliver it cleaned at our venue should you be staying with us for a while at an additional fee.  Arrange this with them directly or get a quote. On The Spot Laundromat, Vredenburg
  • If you are only staying 1 or 2 nights you can collect your laundry on your way through Vredenburg on the day of your departure (carbon footprint)
  • These fees are not included in your accommodation and can be paid with On The Spot directly.

Where are the grocery stores and ATM facilities closest to The Beach Camp™?

  • Vredenburg is the biggest town before Paternoster with a selection of ATM facilities in Main Road and a Pick n Pay centre.
  • Paternoster Express is the only grocery store in Paternoster.  They close roughly between 17pm and 18pm Monday-Saturday; Sunday close @ 15h00; Public Holidays they are closed.
  • Within Paternoster there are only 2 ATM facilities in the area – also at the Paternoster Express shop.
  • Since you need to drive past all these places before you get to The Beach Camp™ it is good to be properly prepared – once you get to us you won’t necessarily want to drive back into Paternoster or Vredenburg.

I have even more questions, who can I speak to?
