FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

May we just walk into The Beach Camp™ to have a look?

  • Only if you have made an appointment in advance .
  • No day visitors or viewing is permitted without prior arrangement.

How do I book?

  • Internet Explorer Version 6 is the only browser that does not support this on-line booking function.  We have been advised that it will be phased out.  You need to update your web browser if you are experiencing problems and upgrade to a higher version or different web browser.
  • Click to view availability and book online.
  • If you want to book for the same day you will need to give us a call 082-926-2267.
  • If you are having trouble with the online booking system, feel free to send us an e-mail with all your contact details, the no. of nights and the dates of those nights plus the number of people and as soon as we are back on line we will process this for you.
  • However, please be aware that the route via e-mail will not be live and subject to live-bookings having come through.  The turnaround time on e-mail bookings is 48 hours.

What should I bring along?

  • Your own sleeping bag or duvet (there are a few spare for hire in emergencies, but this is subject to availability)
  • Torch
  • Wood – or you can buy wood at The Beach Camp™
  • Coolerbox and ice bricks to keep your food cold if you are self-catering
  • Closed shoes for evenings

Can I bring my own alcohol?

  • The Beach Camp has a licensed bar, that is exclusively for residents.  Therefore personal alcohol is not allowed on our premises.
  • However, we understand that not everyone enjoys box wine, which means if you want to bring your own bottle of wine you can – we charge a corkage fee per 750ml.

What can’t I bring?

  • Pets
  • Stress
  • Electronic music or other noisy behavior
  • Own alcohol
  • Appliances that require electricity
  • Glasses for drinks, should this break we have no way of catching a wild animal or bird with a glass shard in their foot.  Easier with adults and kids – simply impossible with wild animals.
  • Bright florescent lights since they attract the “unwanted visitors” – head lamps work just fine.

Do we need to cook our own food?

  • We can do dinner, lunch, OYSTERS and breakfast for you with prior notice (usually a week in advance) or you can be self-catering.
  • Meals need to be booked a week in advance – sometimes a little longer.
  • If you are allergic to washing dishes, but still would like to self-cater, we can take care of this for you at a fee – don’t forget to inquire.  We have a fee for group bookings as well.

Is there electricity?

  • There is no electricity at The Beach Camp™ by choice.
  • The communal areas have solar lighting  or paraffin lanterns.
  • Bring your torch or head-lamp along with you for the sleeping areas or to check on your braai or if you simply need more light.

What does it cost?

How do I get there?

What happens if I am staying for a while, how do I get my clothes washed?

  • We can offer you an outsourced laundry option.
  • You can drop your laundry off in Vredenburg at On The Spot on your way through and they will deliver it cleaned at our venue should you be staying with us for a while.
  • If you are only staying 1 or 2 nights you can collect your laundry on your way through Vredenburg on the day of your departure (carbon footprint)
  • Who is On The Spot and why do we use them?  http://www.onthespotlaundromat.co.za/
  • These fees are not included in your accommodation and can be paid with On The Spot directly.

I have even more questions, who can I speak to?
