Chill out in the “Chill Cove” on a hammock, which has replaced the pool table.  Read a book or just stare out at the ocean.

Guided horse riding, hiking, bouldering, bird watching, fishing, fishing trips, guided sea-kayak trails, Stand Up Paddling, diving,  surfing, explore the reserve, star gazing or just relaxing is the order of the day.  Some activities are outsourced, others are suggestions of what you can do with the equipment you may have at home, bring this along.

GUIDED HORSE RIDING TRAILS (outsourced activity)

Windstone is just off of the R27 close to the West Coast Fossil Park.  Drikus situated on the outskirts of Paternoster.  Bookings essential.

STAND UP PADDLING (outsourced activity from Langebaan Lagoon), so do this on your way To The Beach Camp™ or on your way From The Beach Camp™

EXPLORE CAPE COLUMBINE NATURE RESERVE: (suggested activity if you wish to stay busy)

For those booked in at The Beach Camp, explore the granite rock formations and sea life in the rock pools.  Remember, your fees for the reserve are included in your accommodation.  You can also walk from the camp to Paternoster along the coast; it will take about 45min to Paternoster main beach and is really a beautiful stroll.    Suggested activity.

BOULDERING: (suggested activity if you wish to stay busy)

We have pink granite rock formations – own equipment required – suggested activity.

HIRE MOUNTAIN BIKES (outsourced activity)

Why don’t you hire your mountain bike from Live2Ride in Langebaan on your way through to The Beach Camp™?

You can also hire these from Paternoster Express Shop on your left as you enter Paternoster.

GUIDED SEA-KAYAK TRAILS (outsourced activity)

Guided sea-kayak trails and expeditions for all skill levels.  (Weather and sea conditions permitting – bookings essential, call Ian on 082 584 1907).  Here you can gaze at seals, dolphins, whales and the awesome bird life, as well as breath-taking scenery.  All sea kayak trips are guided and are dependent on weather and sea conditions.  (Additional fees for this activity – 5km away)

FLOWER WALKS: (suggested activity if you wish to stay busy)

Cape Columbine Nature Reserve is a flower reserve – as residents of The Beach Camp™ you are already sleeping over in a flower reserve.  Why not go on a mid-morning stroll through the reserve or before 16h00 – sunshine permitting.  The nature reserve is roughly 263ha – roughly the size of Dassen Island.  The flowers range in size from 3mm to 100mm.  Some are brown, some are green…….  SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!  WALK IT, don’t drive it – it is not possible to see flowers at any speed.

SURFING: (suggested activity if you wish to stay busy)

There are surfing spots along the West Coast and even in Paternoster region.  The information is on our INFO board at The Beach Camp™ beach-bar for our residents.  Bring along your equipment and wetsuits – check out the Surf & Swell Report for Cape Columbine.

DIVING: (suggested activity if you wish to stay busy)

This is a suggested activity – own equipment required. For those that want to enjoy the crayfish season – please familiarize yourself with the Regulations for West Coast Lobster, see below.
